Today singers are embracing an expansive catalog of popular songs from a variety of genres for use in performance. Everything from the Beatles, Sondheim, Stevie Wonder and original compositions from current jazz composers are being included. This 3-part workshop explores new repertoire introducing contemporary rhythmic, harmonic, and structural ideas while reflecting each individual’s voice. Song suggestions will be offered and all participants will individually prepare a song for each workshop session using backing tracks and recording.
